Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone has released yet another morsel of information regarding the upcoming update 1.5 for Stardew Valley. The developer tweeted that there will be a new farm type and an “Advanced Game Options” menu.
The new farm type is a “Beach Farm,” which will provide for good foraging and fishing. Other features of the Beach Farm include “tons of open space,” and the chance for items to wash up on shore. Sprinklers won’t work in sandy soil, though.
In terms of the advanced game options, a picture accompanying the tweet indicates that players will be able to make changes to community center bundles, mine rewards, and toggle on options like “Guarantee Year 1 Completable” and “Spawn monsters on the farm.”
The free 1.5 update was first announced back on the game’s fourth anniversary, February 26, 2020, just a couple months after the 1.4 update. Since the announcement, we have learned a good deal about what will be included when it releases. The developer asked the community which fruits they’d like to see in the upcoming update with a day-long poll. The next day, he announced banana as a winner with a tweet accompanied by a Stardew Valley character holding the fruit aloft next to some banana trees, indicating that the fruit would be included. The update will also include split-screen multiplayer, which would allow two players to explore a farm independent of one another. The PC version will allow for the screen to be split four ways.
Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices. The update will not be coming to the PlayStation Vita, as it is no longer supported, but will arrive for free on the other listed platforms.
