Monster Hunter Rise on Nintendo eShop

Nintendo eShop Went Down After Monster Hunter Rise Demo Launched

If you have downloaded the Monster Hunter Rise demo on the Nintendo eShop, you are one of the lucky people who were able to do so. The eShop experienced problems due to concentrated access soon after the demo’s launch, and eventually went under emergency maintenance.

The Monster Hunter Rise demo launched on the eShop at around 10:25 JST. The Japanese Nintendo customer support started raising the issue on Twitter at 11:35 JST, noting that software downloads may not begin immediately due to concentrated access on the server. It also recommended that people wait for the download begins on its own instead of mashing the Demo Download button.

Nintendo eventually started emergency maintenance from 14:20 JST that rendered the eShop entirely inaccessible. As of this writing, the Nintendo eShop is still yet to be operational in any available regions. [UPDATE: The maintenance ended at 19:45 JST (05:45 AM ET) and the eShop is now accessible again.]

The demo version of Monster Hunter Rise comes with some limitations. First of all, it will be downloadable for a limited time until February 1, 2021. Although the Basic and Wyvern Riding tutorial quests can be accessed multiple times, the main quests against Great Izuchi and Mizutsune have a combined play limit of 30 times. After this limit is reached, the demo will no longer be playable. As the demo only offers preset equipment gear, there is no feature to bring its save data to the full release.

The full version of Monster Hunter Rise will be released simultaneously worldwide on March 26, 2021.
