The two warlords were among the most prominent figures of the Sengoku era. Oda Nobunaga is regarded as the first samurai-era warlord to conquer and unify the provinces of Japan. For his part, Akechi Mitsuhide is best known as Nobunaga’s assassin, serving as Nobunaga’s ally, and later orchestrating the incident that ended his life in 1582.

Have a look at the trailer from the Nintendo Direct:

Samurai Warriors 5 will be the first new entry in the franchise since 2014’s Samurai Warriors 4 on the PS3 and PS Vita (though that game received multiple expansions through 2016). It was originally announced in 2019, but pushed back beyond 2020. 2019 also saw Samurai Warriors 4 DX receive a Japan-exclusive Switch and PS4 release. As for the Warriors franchise proper, the Switch has received plenty: Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme LegendsHyrule Warriors, and Fire Emblem Warriors are just some to come to Nintendo’s platform.

The familiar Samurai Warriors gameplay of one-versus-one-thousand brawling is on display, as are updated character designs and graphics. Other characters that look to be Samurai Warriors takes on Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Nobunaga’s sister Oichi also show up in the trailer.
