Square Enix revealed that NieR: Automata has surpassed 5.5 million units in cumulative sales worldwide. This number includes both physical and digital sales. It’s worth nothing that NieR: Automata reached this number on the fourth anniversary of the game’s release. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Since its release, NieR: Automata has received numerous rewards. And due to its availability through multiple platforms, the title has seen an uptick in sales. Sales were also bolstered by the release of the NieR: Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition, which released in 2019.
NieR: Automata has appeared in various other franchises through collaboration events. This includes Final Fantasy XIV, which has its own series of raids overseen by NieR series creator Yoko Taro. Additionally, other Square Enix properties that NieR: Automata collaborations have appeared in include SINoALICE and War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.
NieR Reincarnation recently released to Android and iOS devices in Japan, and received a NieR: Automata event as soon as the game went live. Players can roll on limited time banners to receive unique costumes for 9S, 2B, and A2 that are entirely unique to NieR Reincarnation.
NieR: Automata is immediately available for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. NieR: Automata first released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in February 2017, followed by its Western and PC releases in March 2017. It released for the Xbox One in June 2018.
