State of Play 2021

February 2021 PlayStation State of Play Will Focus on 10 Games

Senior Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications Sid Shuman announced via the official PlayStation Blog that a new State of Play is coming this week. Sony will show games for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and the broadcast will run approximately 30 minutes long. The video will air live on Twitch and YouTube on February 25, 2021, at 2pm PT/5pm ET/11pm CET.

Sony confirmed that fans can expect both PS4 and PS5 titles in the first State of Play in 2021. Shuman wrote on the PlayStation blog that the company will show ten video games. This will include new game announcements and updates on titles shown during the June 2020 PS5 Showcase. Both third-party and indie titles will appear.

Shuman also clarified that Sony will not have any hardware or business-related information to share during the broadcast. This likely means we will not hear anything about the PS5’s VR headset, which is reportedly quite a ways off anyway. One final bit of information for fans to chew on from Shuman is that the State of Play will focus on “games set to come out in the months ahead.” So it might be wise to expect 2021 releases.

We recently heard plenty of Sony-related news in February 2021. SIE CEO Jim Ryan confirmed in an interview with GQ Magazine that Days Gone will be ported to PC. Additionally, Sony will add another title to its Play at Home promotion. The company will give away Ratchet & Clack on PS4 for free in March.

We’ll have all the breaking news from Sony’s State of Play as it airs on February 25, 2021.
