JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean Anime Confirmed

DAVID Production announced the anime adaptation of Stone Ocean, which is part six of long-running manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The studio released a short video on the official Twitter account for the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime showing off previous parts and protagonists.

Stone Ocean‘s PV features the first five protagonists, but does not provide too much information on Stone Ocean itself. Though the video is only a minute long, it already amassed over 1.4 million views on Warner Bros. Japan’s YouTube channel.

Stone Ocean originally ran from 2000 to 2003 in Shonen Jump. It follows the story of Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of the series’ third protagonist Jotaro Kujo, after she is incarcerated for a crime she didn’t commit. Stone Ocean is the only arc where the titular JoJo is a woman. It is also the last arc in the current universe of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The next part, Steel Ball Run, will take place in an alternate timeline from Phantom Blood.

Veteran seiyuu Miyuki Sawashiro provided Jolyne’s voice in the various Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure games. However, for the Stone Ocean anime, Ai Farouz will voice her. In a 2019 interview with Newtype, Farouz commented that she wanted to become a voice actress after reading part six of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. She also said that if Stone Ocean got an anime adaptation, she would want to voice Foo Fighters. Farouz’s other credits include Phina in Fire Emblem Heroes, Hibiki Sakura in How Heavy Are the Dumbells You Lift?, and Sei Shonagon in Fate/Grand Order.

David Production has not yet announced the release date for the anime adaptation of Stone Ocean. Current parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure are available on streaming services such as Crunchyroll, and the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan OVA is exclusive on Netflix.
