NieR Replicant DLC

NieR Replicant Trailer Teases Extra Content and NieR Automata DLC

It’s fair to say that on some level, the upcoming remake of NieR, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139, owes its existence to NieR Automata‘s popularity. Square Enix seems intends to pay tribute to the successful successor through its Extra Content and DLC. Details about the NieR Replicant DLC were revealed in an April 19, 2021 livestream ahead of the game’s April 23, 2021 release.

The first pack teased was “15 Nightmares” with its challenging dungeons, along with the “Samurai” and “Kabuki” costume sets. 15 Nightmares makes the older version of Nier released for NieR Gestalt (also known as “Papa Nier”) playable. The NieR Automata crossover DLC for NieR Replicant is called the “4 YoRHa” pack and will be free at launch. It adds several costumes and weapons from NieR Automata, including the Virtuous Treaty sword and outfits that make Kaine look like 2B or A2. Another costume looks like 9S and a non-specific, pants-wearing YoRHa android. The music DLC will allow players to replace the game’s background music with NieR Automata‘s outside of the main story.

The NieR Replicant extra content will also incorporate voice performances from cast members of NieR Automata. The cast shown includes Yui Ishikawa (2B), Natsuki Hanae (9S), Ayaka Suwa (A2),  Aoi Yuki (Pascal), and Kaoru Akiyama (Pod 153). Even voice actors Kira Buckland and Kyle McCarley (who voiced 2B and 9S in English, respectively) are included. Exactly who they’ll voice in NieR Replicant was not specified.

Another entirely new piece of NieR Replicant DLC was also revealed, the Extra Episode “Mermaid.” It appears to involve a shipwreck and a little girl named Louise. A boss fight from the episode was also shown, with the party fighting a massive, tentacled beast.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 will release on April 23, 2021 worldwide for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
