Resident Evil Village Has Shipped 4 Million Units Worldwide

As of May 27, 2021, Resident Evil Village has officially shipped 4 million units worldwide. The official Capcom Dev 1 Twitter account shared the information, which directly came from a press release from the company. This puts it 5 million units behind its predecessor Resident Evil 7. The press release also mentions that cumulative shipments of Resident Evil games has exceeded 100 million units.

Earlier in May 2021, Capcom had revealed that Resident Evil Village had shipped roughly 3 million copies worldwide shortly after its initial release. The numbers, when compared to previous releases, had put it somewhere around the same range as Resident Evil 7 when it had first released.

As of March 31, 2021 it was revealed that Resident Evil 7 had shipped roughly 9 million units worldwide. The title sits at second place on Capcom’s Platinum Titles list. Behind it sits the Resident Evil 2 remake, and Resident Evil 5. Monster Hunter: World remains in first place.

Recently, Capcom shared a video detailing the development of Resident Evil Village. This video broke down how COVID-19 impacted development. Additionally, the video put an emphasis on how valuable the Q&A team was to the overall development of the title.

Resident Evil Village is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
