While some members of the team were teased on the official website, their full names have yet to be revealed outside of this new information. These staff members include:

  • Background Music: Tsukasa Masuko
  • Character Design: so-bin
  • Planning, Production, and Direction: Fuyuki Hayashi, Mitsuhiro Hoshino
  • Scenario: Fuyuki Hayashi, Ryutaro Ito
  • Scenario Supervisor: Kazunari Suzuki, Aya Nishitani

Ryutaro Ito, primarily known for his contribution to the Shin Megami Tensei series, was the planner for the first two entries in the franchise. Other former Shin Megami Tensei staff include Kazunari Suzuki, who helped pen the first title. These short interview snippets share why they banned together to create Monark.

Hayashi and Hoshino have reportedly said that they realized that there are currently no games like Shin Megami Tensei If on the market. This realization led the team of former Shin Megami Tensei developers to decided to create a prototype for Monark. They took into account the feeling that they wanted to retain from “old school RPGs” when conceptualizing the project. Hayashi also stated that he is thankful for the developers that have joined the project, and that the chemistry between the team helped create the project itself.

Additionally, Kazunari Suzuki shared in the interview that while he will be working as the Scenario Supervisor on the project, he will still give input on the scenario. However, this does not mean that he will be writing the scenario. Instead, Hayashi and Ito will be taking up that task.

Monark will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on October 14, 2021.
