Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Online Servers Will Shut Down on PS3, Xbox 360

Metal Gear Online and Mother Base will be closing on two platforms, as Konami announced the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PS3 and Xbox 360 online servers will shut down in 2022. First, today was the last day for the system that would let you purchase things. Konami shuttered it on August 31, 2021. If people still have money available or want to get a few more things, they will have until November 30, 2021 to buy Metal Gear Online-related DLC. On March 1, 2022, Konami will stop distributing those elements. Finally, everything that uses the online servers in Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain will stop working on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 31, 2022.

Konami’s announcement did only mention this applies to those two platforms. The PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions will behave as normal. Also, while the online elements will be gone, PS3 and Xbox 360 owners will still be able to play the single-player campaign without any issues.

This comes about a year after PS3 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain players accomplished a major goal. They achieved nuclear disarmament in July 2020.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The Metal Gear Solid V online servers will be shutdown for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions on May 31, 2022.
