Indie Games Connect 2022 free Konami convention in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan in June, registration open for developers

Indie Games Connect 2022 Is a Free Convention from Konami in Japan

Konami will hold an indie games convention in Japan this summer. Indie Games Connect 2022 will occur on June 26, 2022 at the Konami Creative Center in Ginza, Tokyo. The convention will be free for both exhibitors and players to attend. The goal is to enable indie developers to network and promote their games to as many people as possible. Registration is open for game developers that would like to attend the event. Details for how the public can attend will arrive later. [Thanks, VGC.]

Indie Games Connect 2022 will be free in order to make it easier for game developers to, well, connect. Per VGC, Konami even intends to host consultation sessions at the convention to answer any questions indie game developers might have. One seminar will be hosted by PlayStation’s Shuhei Yoshida, who is the head of the SIE Independent Developer Initiative and former SIE Worldwide Studios president. He will discuss the “future of indie games and creators.” Notably, Konami listed PlayStation as the largest sponsor of Indie Games Connect 2022 on its event page.

Konami recently released GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon on Nintendo Switch. It is a revival of a classic Konami IP, yet it was developed by an indie team. Along those same lines, Konami held a contest last year challenging indie game developers to make something new with the company’s IP. This is all part of a renewed effort from Konami to foster indie game development and publishing. However, there are reports that the company has plans for major IP like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania as well.

Indie Games Connect 2022 will take place on June 26, 2022 in Ginza, Tokyo, and indie game developers have until April 22, 2022 to register for the event.
