Some backers of the crowdfunded Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising haven’t received promised codes for the game. Developer Rabbit & Bear Studios addressed the issue via a Backer Update on the project’s official Kickstarter page.
The post addresses the community and says that the team has been able to fulfill “a majority” of Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising codes. However, “a significant number” of backers have not yet received their codes in time for the game’s May 10, 2022 launch. The team apologized to those affected, citing “a larger number of orders than expected.” This necessitated ordering more codes from platform holders, which can take time to generate and distribute.
To compensate affected backers who wish to play the game immediately, the team is offering free Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Steam codes to anyone they can confirm has purchased the game but not yet received their code. Affected backers who want to play on non-PC platforms or outside of Steam will have to wait for new batches of codes from their preferred platform to arrive. The team asked for the community’s patience and promised that it would “own” the mistake and use it to improve its processes for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes when its time comes.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a prequel game to Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. It was offered as a “bonus game” while development on Hundred Heroes proceeds. It’s also in a different genre, mechanically. It’s a side-scrolling action title rather than a JRPG similar to the Suikoden series, as Hundred Heroes will be. Also unlike Hundred Heroes, Rising is available on the Nintendo Switch. Rabbit & Bear Studios has yet to commit to a Switch release for Hundred Heroes, saying it will conduct “technical investigations” to determine if developing for the platform is feasible.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Check out Siliconera’s official review.
