The poster for the Chainsaw Man anime shows off Denji standing atop some rubble. Seen in his devil form and sprouting chainsaw blades from his limbs and head, the visual communicates the series’ gory, violent aesthetic and its modern setting. Based on the manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the show will follow the adventures of Denji, a novice devil hunter. After being betrayed and left for dead, Denji forms a contract with his pet chainsaw devil, Pochita. This allows him to fuse with Pochita and call on his chainsaw-wielding power to kill devils and make a better life for himself. The show is being produced by studio MAPPA.

According to the post from the official account, the first Chainsaw Man anime trailer will debut on August 5th, Friday, at 8:00PM Japan time. The trailer will go live on MAPPA’s YouTube channel, as well as on Japanese video services NicoNico Douga and Abema TV. The event will be more than just a trailer reveal, though. The same broadcast will also reveal the show’s main cast, and have them onstage as guests for comments and interviews.

The Chainsaw Man anime will air in 2022. Its first full trailer debuts on August 5, 2022. The manga is published in English by Viz Media. Check out previous teasers for the adaptation here.
