New Witcher Trilogy and Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Announced

CD Projekt Red has posted a long-term product outlook on its Twitter account, which gives fans a look at what lies in store for The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. There will also be a new IP codenamed Hadar. According to Michael Nowakowski, who is the senior vice president of business development at CD Projekt Group, the team has not started development on Hadar yet.

The company also revealed further projects and its future moves in a video presentation mainly addressed to investors. CD Projekt group executives Adam Kiciński, Piotr Nielubowicz, Michal Nowakowski led the presentation, which concerned the company’s long-term outlook.

The presentation focused broadly on CD Projekt group and its planned moves in the years to come, covering topics like using Unreal Engine, improving the work environment at its studios, and further multimedia plans, including comic books, films, TV series, and more.

For The Witcher, CD Projekt Red plans on making and launching a new trilogy for the series. This trilogy will open with a game codenamed Project Polaris, which will be a “story-driven open-world RPG” based on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It plans to launch all three games within a six-year period after Polaris comes out. The Witcher 3 will also be ported to current-generation consoles within 2022.

Anothe game, codenamed Project Sirius and developed by The Molasses Flood, will be an “innovative take” on The Witcher’s universe and will be an “unforgettable story” for both new and old fans. It is currently in the pre-production stage, and will offer both single-player and multiplayer experiences. Finally, Project Canis Majoris will be a single-player open-world RPG separate from the Polaris saga (though still Witcher-related). It is unknown what studio will develop it, but it will consist of employees who used to work on The Witcher.

There are two ongoing projects for Cyberpunk 2077. The first one is Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the major expansion announced in early September. It is in the final production phase and CD Projekt Red is developing it. Project Orion is the code name for their Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. They said that it will “prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe.” It’ll will likely have a multiplayer component.

CD Projekt Red has not announced an expected release window for any of these new projects. However, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty should be the first to come out, which will be in 2023.
