Konami Teases Silent Hill News for Wednesday

Konami’s got some new Silent Hill-related info up its sleeve. The company promised fans and curious outsiders “the latest updates” for the series during a livestream event it’s calling Silent Hill Transmission, scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, October 19th, at 2:00 PM Pacific Time (or October 20th, 6:00 AM Japan Time). The timing of the announcement suggests that a Silent Hill remake or some other related project is ready to be announced.

The announcement was made via a Tweet from the Silent Hill official account.

The tweet asks fans “In your restless dreams, do you see that town?”, with a link to a new portal site. At the moment the page is clean bar a picture promoting the stream schedule and what looks like a revamped logo for the series. Masahiro Ito, who served as Art Director on Silent Hill 2, also retweeted the announcement.

Game-wise, the franchise has been almost dormant for a long time, though rumors and leaks have suggested a revival is in the works. On October 8, 2022, Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 live-action movie adaptation, claimed that “multiple” new games in the series were in development. Gans also said he’s involved with a new film that could be released in 2023. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee rated an as yet unannounced title called Silent Hill: The Short Message. Meanwhile, The Medium developer Bloober Team, which partnered with Konami in 2021, is rumored to be working on a remake of Silent Hill 2, though it hasn’t commented publicly on the matter.

Konami will share more info on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM Pacific Time via the portal site.
