The info comes from a brief post on the Lodestone community and news site. According to Square Enix, the planned changes were originally set to occur at the end of February 2023. Now they will occur at the end of March 2023. Square Enix didn’t detail the reason for the delay, but did apologize for the inconvenience caused by the FFXIV payment method changes.

Square Enix originally announced its intentions in late January 2023. It said that the company would be dropping certain payment options from its list of permitted FFXIV payment channels. The changes were prompted by a shift in the company’s payment processor. Several banks and payment systems used in Japan, North America, and Europe, were set to be removed. As such, players who paid for their subscriptions or other purchases with those options would need to find new ones.

As a reminder, these are the currently accepted payment method options for Final Fantasy XIV:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • PayPal
  • Amazon Pay
  • Paysafecard

The options that are to be removed as part of the FFXIV payment changes are:

  • Carte Bleue
  • JCB
  • SEPA (Sofort)
  • Discover

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The payment changes are set to take place at the end of March 2023.
