FFVII Remake Composer Rearranged ‘Weiss the Immaculate’ by Ear

On Twitter, Square Enix shared that Masashi Hamauzu, who composed “Weiss the Immaculate” for the original Final Fantasy VII, rearranged it by ear for FFVII Remake Intergrade. For some reason, he did not use the original sheet music during the process.

Square Enix also uploaded the track onto Twitter for players to listen to. The song is just over a minute and a half long.

Accompanying the track on Twitter is Weiss’s cutscene from VII Remake. He is a SOLDIER in the Underground who originally appeared in the spin-off game Dirge of Cerberus. Though he was not in the original Final Fantasy VII, Weiss is in Remake as a secret boss. You can fight him in the Shinra Combat Simulator.

Masashi Hamauzu is a composer who has worked on many Final Fantasy games during his career at Square Enix. He became the leading composer after Nobuo Uematsu’s departure in 2004, and composed for Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and the FFXIII trilogy. Outside of Final Fantasy games, he has also worked on Wild Hearts, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and SaGa Frontier 2.

After the FFVII remake came out, Square Enix often posts tidbits about the game’s development and history onto Twitter. Previously, it shared information on Scarlet’s foot soldier, Ottoman. He is quite literally her foot soldier, in the sense that she uses his back as a footrest.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC. Intergrade is the updated re-release of the game, and it is only on PS5 and Windows PC via Epic Games Store and Steam.
