After reaching land in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re tasked with heading to Hyrule Castle and reporting in with Captain Hoz. He isn’t the easiest guy to track down, though. So where exactly is the leader of the Hyrule Guard? Here’s where to find Captain Hoz in Tears of the Kingdom.
So where do I find Captain Hoz in Tears of the Kingdom?
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably wasted too much time trying to track this Captain Hoz character down in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom during the “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” quest. He doesn’t exactly station himself in the most visible spot! To find him, head north from Lookout Landing and cross the Hyrule Castle Ruins until you reach a locked gate. In classic The Legend of Zelda style, climb up and around the gate… Because who has time to unlock it, right? We’re going right over it.
Once you’re on the other side, continue up the hill until you reach the First Gatehouse, the large building at the end of the path. There will be a handful of NPC guards along the way, but it’s not worth speaking to them because they’re don’t provide much help. They are more shocked that Link is alive.
Use Link’s Ascend ability from inside the building. You’ll find the elusive Captain Roz on the east side of a flat roof, gazing out at the damage caused by the Upheaval and Ganondorf. Still, for as destroyed as Hyrule is right now, you can’t argue it isn’t hauntingly beautiful.

After speaking to him, return to Purah in Lookout Landing to progress the main story and finally unlock the Paraglider in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
