How to Complete Ukouh Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

The very first Shrine you’ll finish in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is Ukouh Shrine, and it’s very easy to complete. This is because it’s actually a tutorial. Immediately upon entering, Link gains the Ultrahand ability. So what you’re really learning to do is pick things up, rotate them, and place them to create bridges and simple platforms to help you get across gaps. There are only three challenges, so it’s never too taxing.

Part 1: Make a single bridge

The very first gap has a single board of wood to your left. Use Ultrahand to pick it up, then rotate it slightly so one end is on either side of the gap. You only have to press A once to pick it up. There’s no need to hold it, which makes constructing it a lot easier.

Here are some screenshots I took showing exactly how to place it.

Part 2: Combine two boards to make a longer bridge

This one actually has two options. You could go ahead and make a bridge that goes from one end to the other. You could also connect the two by attaching them to make an incline Link can run up to get to the other side. I went with the ramp to get past this divide.

Part 3: Make a platform to ride the rail.

What’s nice about this part is I found it was a way to not only learn about fusing platforms to ride on, but to use Ultrahand to see what items you can grab and use. This final Ukouh Shrine puzzle is the one with the most steps to complete, but I found it only takes a few minutes before I was back to my The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom adventure. Grab the board and lay it flat on the ground. Grab the hook and attach its base to the center of the board. It should automatically “snap” to the right position. Then, grab the finished platform and hook it onto the rail. It will immediately begin moving, so quick jump on and ride it to the other side to finish this shrine.

You’re done, and now you can head to the second shrine.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
