The new Crimson Desert gameplay trailer showed off combat against both human and monstrous foes, including a giant crab. There also appear to be large enemies that must be climbed to defeat, similar to Shadow of the Colossus. While much of the game appears grounded in reality, the trailer did show off a few magical portals to an alternate dimension of sorts. This also seems to include a set of sky islands that can be jumped off, not too dissimilar to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It wasn’t all action though, as fishing, dog-petting and sheep rescuing all featured too.

It’s been a while since we last got an update on Crimson Desert. A gameplay trailer for the game was previously featured at The Game Awards in 2020, but not much has been heard since.

Crimson Desert is an open-world action RPG from the developers of MMO Black Desert Online. The story will focus on a mercenary named Macduff as he battles mythical beasts in the land of Pywel. It was originally intended to be a prequel to Black Desert‘s story, but during development it moved in a different direction. It’s not clear if the two games are in the same universe.

Crimson Desert is in development for PC and console.
