How to Build a Spirit Barn in Moonstone Island

The Spirit Barn is an essential building to have in Moonstone Island. If you’re looking to go monster collecting, this is a requirement in order to tame more than three Spirits. However, it’s not open from the start of the game and will take a bit of work to get set up.

How Do You Unlock the Sprit Barn Recipe In Moonstone Island?

Your first step to getting a Spirit Barn is to speak to Zed at the observatory, located on the southwest tip of Moonstone Island. Zed will provide you with a quest to capture a Level 5 Spirit or higher.

To do this, you’ll need to venture to one of the islands immediately surrounding Moonstone, either with a Balloon or a Broom. You will usually encounter a Level 5 Spirit around here eventually, so make sure you have a free slot in your Medallion and a bunch of Flax Flowers or other taming item. The Spirit must be caught for the quest. You cannot simply train a Spirit you already have to Level 5.

Once you have the right Spirit, head back to Zed and submit your research to him. Wait a day or two in-game, and you’ll be sent a letter with the recipe for a Spirit Barn.

What Do I Need to Build a Spirit Barn in Moonstone Island?

First of all, you’ll need to make sure you have a Moonstone Enchanter. If you used a Broom to get your Level 5 Spirit, then you likely already have this. If not, this can be constructed from the crafting menu using a Moonstone Ingot, 3 Copper Ingots, and 3 Iron Ingots. These can all be made using a Furnace and smelting Moonstones, Copper Ore, and Iron Ore.

Once you have the Moonstone Enchanter, you can approach it to build a Spirit Barn. The materials for this are extensive, requiring 3 Iron Ingots and 3 Moonstone Ingots, plus 100 Wood and Stone each. Go chop down a forest and empty a mine, then come back to build your barn.

There is one more step before you can fill your barn full of Spirits, however. You will need to construct some Spirit Stalls to create open slots. These require 30 Wood and 3 Cloth, which can be made use Fibers obtained by cutting down grass.

Moonstone Island is available now for PC. A Switch version is in development.
