Which Soulslike Games Would You Most Recommend

2023 is a fantastic year for Soulslike games. We’ve see titles likeLies of P and Lords of the Fallen. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Blasphemous 2 also appeared. We also have that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC on the horizon. While we wait for newer titles and updates, we figured it’d be a good time to discuss more immediately available soulslike games we liked best.

Soulslike fans have an embarrassment of riches to choose from, even excluding genre progenitor FromSoftware. The best one overall for me is Nioh 2 for the slick combat, historical element and enemy variety, let alone the sheer amount of content in the game. Runners up include Stranger of Paradise because of Jack Garland and 2017’s The Surge. The last one was a solid enough game, but sticks with me for the moment when the intro cutscene finishes and you try to move your character only to realize he’s not sitting down, hes in a wheelchair. — Elliot

Honestly, I think Code Vein is the soulslike game I liked the best. I really liked the depth to the characters. It feels like you’re connecting with people. Plus the story is great, and I enjoyed the ambiance. Plus the monster design and character design is fantastic. The details are great. And, while I’m not great at soulslike titles, it is one I was actually able to beat.

But also, if we’re considering Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins a soulslike, then I absolutely love it too. — Jenni
