Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Junon Parade Scene Teased

Square Enix’s latest Final Fantasy VII Rebirth side-by-side comparison features the Junon Parade march minigame in the remake and original FFVII. It doesn’t offer any hints about how it might work in the retelling, however.

In the original Final Fantasy VII, people would need to get out of Junon by participating in a parade march minigame alongside Shinra soldiers. As someone moves in time, the television ratings can go up or down. Your goal is to march in time and hold the gun in certain ways when needed to blend in with the other people. The ratings would change based on your performance, with a box in the bottom right showing how well Cloud is doing. The people at the television studio would send items like a grenade or gil based on your performance.

In the Rebirth screenshot for the Junon military parade march, the perspective is quite different. Cloud is standing alone at the head of the group, rather than being in the back row. There’s also no ratings indicator anywhere on-screen. In the bottom right there are two UI elements noted, with one offering the option to “change formation” and the other being a “commands menu.”

Here’s the new example of the remake’s take on this section.

The last time Square Enix offered this sort of side-by-side, it showed off the Buggy. That’s a vehicle from the original game that returns with a new look in the remake.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will come to the PS5 on February 29, 2024, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024. FFVII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC.
