Square Enix announced Nier this morning, but didn’t divulge details. This trailer shows a lot more of the game, introduces the hero who looks like a Viking, and the shadowy creatures he fights.

The official site explains Nier is armed with more than an enormous sword. He has multiple weapons and can magic. Square Enix also says players will “explore hauntingly familiar lands”. Hmm… is Nier a post a-plauge-yptic vision of Earth? The future of Ivalice?
