On Tuesday, Konami will release Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth on WiiWare, which is also the twentieth anniversary of the Game Boy game its based on. Like all of Konami’s ReBirth titles, Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth is a remix of the source material.
Here’s how the original game looked back then…
… and now.
Interesting to see stage two in the WiiWare version with a gothic castle background. I believe the same stage in the Game Boy game had a cave-like setting with lots of rolling eyeballs on rickety bridges. Seems like the level order or design was changed. Sub-weapons, as seen in the heads up display, are another new feature.
What’s the same? The timer and the plot which has players face Dracula as Christopher Belmont. I suppose the controls should be familiar too since you can play Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth with a Wii remote, remote/nunchuck combination, classic controller, or Gamecube pad.
