Plus a tiny bit of drama too. Front Mission Evolved has a single player campaign mode where a female pilot will, at some point, give you a ride after you throw away your last chance to save yourself. I assume the main character hitches a Wanzer ride with her, but in Front Mission Evolved you can fight on foot.
