Aliens: Infestation Outed, It’s A Side Scrolling DS Platformer

Australia’s Classifications Board was the first to reveal Aliens: Infestation, an unannounced Aliens game tied to Contra 4 developer WayForward. Thanks to a leak from the ESRB, we know a bit more about the game.

Aliens: Infestation is a side-scrolling platformer where players blast xenomorphs with shotguns and flamethrowers. Here’s what the ESRB has to say about that.

This is a sci-fi action platformer in which players control a marine squad on a mission to eradicate alien creatures. As players run and jump through side-scrolling levels, they use rifles, pistols, flamethrowers, and explosives to kill enemy soldiers and aliens (i.e., “xenomorphs”). The frenetic battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain; injured aliens emit green splashes of blood before collapsing to the ground. Some sequences also depict red blood spurts when human characters are killed (e.g., an alien bursting out of a man’s chest; characters getting bitten by aliens). During the course of the game, players can enter a locker room and see a male character whose buttocks are briefly exposed. The words “a*s,” “bastard,” and “hell” appear in the dialogue.

While Sega gave us an update on Aliens: Colonial Marines at E3, they didn’t bring Aliens: Infestation to the show. Perhaps, the Nintendo DS version casually mentioned by a Gearbox representative back in 2009 evolved into this title. Aliens: Infestation may be a boxed game, but it could be a DSiWare title too since the ESRB does not differentiate between those.
