HIDIVE might not be the streaming service that initially comes to mind when a new season of anime arrives, but it always has a solid selection of shows to pick from. The show takes place in Japan’s Edo period and follows the journey of a young guardian warrior named Jinta. Tasked with safeguarding a shrine maiden, Itsukihime, from the relentless threat of demons, Jinta’s life dramatically turns after a fateful pursuit through the treacherous woods. This encounter plunges Jinta into an extraordinary adventure that spans time and space. As Jinta navigates this perilous journey, they are forced to confront the profound question of their purpose: why do they wield a sword? The source material has received tremendous praise from fans for its fantasy setting and gritty atmosphere. The trailer for the series also looks stunning, as the animation brings the Edo Period to life. We would not be surprised if this show became a sleeper hit for this season.
If you like your music-oriented shows, Rock is a Lady’s Modesty is the second show we recommend. The plot begins at a prestigious girls’ academy, where new student Ririsa Suzunomiya feels pressured to abandon her passion for guitar and the rock-and-roll lifestyle after her mother remarries a wealthy tycoon. When she expects her life to be uneventful and peaceful, fate intervenes when she meets a fellow music enthusiast—an incredibly talented drummer. Together, they cast aside their good manners and etiquette, embrace their true selves, and form an electrifying rock band. It’s time for them to create music that should only be heard with a noise warning. The show’s trailer harbours many comedic moments, so if you’re a fan of shows like Zombie Land Saga, this one might be worth putting on your radar.
