The Pokemon Company has revealed that it is working with All Nippon Airways (ANA) to launch three new Pokemon jet planes to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary. The new liveries, themed after the series’ first-generation Game Boy releases, will appear sometime within the year 2026.
ANA has also provided a few more details on the jets via its own press release, which is also available in English. The new planes will be a Boeing 787-8 Pokemon Jet Red, a Boeing 787-9 Pokemon Jet Green, and a Boeing 737-800 Pokemon Jet Blue.
As a refresher, the first-generation Pokemon games originally appeared in Japan as Pokemon Red and Green on February 27, 1996, with Pokemon Blue appearing as the third special edition in October 1996. While Nintendo released the games internationally as Pokemon Red and Blue in 1998, the new Red and Blue Pokemon Jets will only fly domestically inside Japan. The jet named after the Japan-exclusive Pokemon Green will instead be the only one to serve international routes.
ANA has also published a teaser trailer for the new Pokemon 30th anniversary jets on its YouTube channel. This trailer particularly shows how the airliner has had a long-term collaboration with The Pokemon Company, with its first Pokemon livery plane featuring creatures like Pikachu launched in 1998.
All Nippon Airways will publish more details about the new Pokemon 30th Anniversary jets, including the actual livery designs and launch dates, in May 2026.
