Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update Adds Custom Design Upgrades

Nintendo revealed the March 18, 2021 Animal Crossing: New Horizons update is about to arrive, and it does more than pave the way for Sanrio amiibo card support and furniture for people to buy. It also adds a new holiday and extra quality of life features. To be specific, lots of new items are being added to the catalog, there will be a NookLink improvement, and an Island Tour Creator site is coming. People will also be able to get more Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Bunny Day furniture and customize more of the town with Custom Design app changes.

First, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Custom Design upgrades will involve two items you can purchase with Nook Points. The Custom Designs Portal is 300 Nook Points and lets you access the portal anywhere, instead of only at the tailor shop. Custom Design Pro Editor+ is 2,000 Nook Points and adds 50 Custom Design slots, 50 Pro Designs slots, and the ability to add Pro Designs to things like cardboard standees, flags, uchiwa fans, and umbrellas.

As for the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Bunny Day festivities, those will “start” on March 28, 2021 again. While this isn’t new and happened in 2020, the update adds new furniture people can buy at Nook’s Cranny. The special items will appear in the featured sale area in the bottom left corner of the store. As for other holiday-relayed items, Nook Shopping will sell seasonal items like a Whoopie Cushion for April Fools’ Day, a Tree Planting Day Forsythia, and a Nature Day Cool Globe. Able Sisters will sell prom formal wear in April as well. Also, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can get a Nook Shopping Nintendo Switch Lite. Everyone will also get a First-Anniversary Cake in the “mail.”

Finally, there’s the new site and app. The Island Tour Creator site will open on March 23, 2021 and let you combine your saved photos and videos for tours. You can use this to share your in-game code for people to visit and highlight your designs and neighbors. There will also be a March 2021 Nintendo Switch Online NookLink update. Like the Splatoon 2 hub in the app, it will add a “shopping” function where you can earn and use Nook Points to get even more exclusive in-game items.
