As with a past trailer highlighting Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, this overview begins by showing how all the Yoshis meet Mr. E. After it drops from the sky, we learn the book is suffering from amnesia. Yoshi will then enter different chapters of the books to identify creatures the new character forgot. From there, we see how it works. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab food and enemies and either spit them back out or swallow them to turn into eggs he can toss. He can also ground pound, just like Mario, to eliminate obstacles, and flutter jump to hover over gaps. The new Tail Flick allows you to possibly get a character as a rider on Yoshi’s back.

As for the creatures, when you see one moving in the book, you can enter a stage to start the identification process. Eating them explains what their “taste” is. Attacking it and interacting it also results in additional discoveries. In the example, we see how one creature becomes dazed when hit and causes flowers to bloom if on Yoshi’s back when passing them. Once you meet it, you can get a name suggestion from Mr. E or name it yourself. You can also get hints to find out if there’s more to learn or find future discoveries.
