Astebreed: Definitive Edition looks to offer several improvements to players. The controls have been better optimized for those using controllers, mapping lock-on controls and dashes in easier-to-use ways. An arrange mode has been added that gives players a different play experience with the game, with new enemy arrangements and attack arrays having been put into all modes to offer new challenges. Different power-ups have been put in place to balance that new challenge, as well.

On top of these play elements, the game also offers improved visuals, new songs, and new story segments as well, and brings all of the content of the PS4 version over. This is all offered for free to previous owners of the PC version.

Astebreed is a shmup where players may find enemies coming at them from surprising directions. Players won’t just face foes head-on, as they may be attacked in swarms or from various places, switching between horizontal, vertical, and 3D shooting at different times. Players will be able to use regular shots, homing beams, and melee attacks using their flying mecha to counteract their foes’ plans.

Astebreed: Definitive Edition is available now on Steam and Playism.
