Some gamers think that three consoles at one time just isn’t enough. A new online petition asks ex-console manufacturer Atari to build the new hardware. The creator of the petition pleads for the system to have a Power PC core, 6 USB ports for joypads, homebrew support and a 2600 emulator. Currently the petition has a mere 51 signatures, amusingly number 51 is ET. Even if this strikes up a million signatures it is unlikely that a new Atari box will ever come to fruition. The Atari that we know now is actually a subsidiary owned by Infogrames. After the failure of the Jaguar Atari quickly merged with JTS and was later sold to Hasbro Interactive. Later on Infogrames bought out Hasbro Interactive and resurrected the name. If retronauts want to see a new Atari check out the plug and play Atari flashback machine. It’s got a 2600 emulator built into it.
