Gust recently shared more details and screenshots Atelier Lydie & Suelle, with a look at some familiar faces in Sophie and Liane, an introduction for Matthias, and details on the game’s synthesis system.
Before getting into the details, if you’re wondering about the name, it was previously “Atelier Lydie & Soeur” but it appears that Gust has changed its romanized spelling to Atelier Lydie & Suelle, as shown in the updated logo, so we’ll be going with that from now.

Occupation: Alchemist
Sophie is an alchemist who has been traveling for a long time. As a senior, she’ll be around to share advice to Lydie and Suelle. She can be absent—minded at times. She’s exceptionally talented in the field of alchemy, and has almost reached the same exceptional level as her teacher’s.
Sophie has gained quite the skills of an alchemist through her long travels. She goes around helping people with alchemy, while traveling for a certain objective.
Liane Mistlud (CV: Azusa Sato)

Age: 22
Height: 162cm
Occupation: Hunter
Liane is running a shop called “Lovely Firis” to sell items she hunts in order to help fund her younger sister’s Atelier. She usually has a calm personality, and is an excellent hunter, but can get a little noisy and out of control when it comes to her sister. Her love towards her sister Firis has powered-up more than ever.
Liane is now running a shop at Merveille. She’ll be around to help out the sisters in different ways. Her love for her sister hasn’t changed, and it looks like it is greater than ever.
Matthias Ferrier Adalet (CV: Yuuki Inoue)

Age: 23
Height: 186cm
Occupation: Knight
A knight who can often be seen mucking about in the capital city of Merveille. He’s frivolous and playful, but has a serous side deep down, as he goes by Lydie and Suelle’s guard. He belongs to a group of knights and is quite the skilled swordsman. They say he has a sister, and he’s completely under her thumb.
We see Matthias invite Lydie and Suelle for some tea with a soft demeanor. However, he’s still a rather suspicious person that the two sisters don’t know too well, although his swift swordsmanship skills will help the two when it comes to battle.
Here’s a little recap on the game’s story:
Lydie and Suelle aim to run the best Atelier in the country. Contrary to their big ambitions, the two go through troubled everyday lives. One day, while working on synthesis, they hear a voice coming from the basement. While wondering what’s going on, they decide to check out the basement that their father told them to “never enter.”
The sisters find a mysterious painting inside the basement. And while looking at the painting, they get pulled into a world inside the painting. Bewildered at first, Lydie and Suelle find themselves tremendously excited upon seeing the world of the painting before them. While looking for a way back home, they start exploring right away.
Here are some details on Atelier Lydie & Suelle’s synthesis system:
The synthesis system is similar to what we’ve seen so far in the Mysterious series, with ingredients that go into panels for a puzzle-like system.
You start out by deciding which ingredients to use for making an item. From here you choose an ingredient as the catalyst of the synthesis, which then brings out special panels for bonus effects.
By placing ingredients on the panels, you’ll get various bonus effects from the special panels.
During synthesis, you can use “Activation Items” at anytime. When using an Activation Item, you can greatly influence the synthesis item’s effects and characteristics.
The item is complete after selecting all the items. If you added any special characteristics, the synthesis finishes up after you make pick the characteristic for the item.
And finally, we got a look at some more screenshots showing its world:
The above screenshot shows a cave inside a world, covered with ice that shines like crystals. You’ll run into various ingredients and monsters found in ice.
You’ll get to explore the worlds inside paintings to find ingredients used for synthesis. As for synthesis recipes, you can find them through gathering, fighting, and exploring.
Here’s a look at the image board for the icy world.
