During a recent NicoNico Live event, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 developer Inti Creates showcased the latest on their upcoming game, which includes more footage of Copen in action. [Thanks, Nintendo Everything.]
As mentioned during the video, while playing as Copen you might find some similarities as the Mega Man X games, such as his ability to jump on walls. Copen also has air-dashes and can slowly float down; however, it consumes his Blitz Gauge while doing so. He can only do three consecutive dashes in a row.
Copen can also climb walls by holding down the dash to bounce from wall to wall, and it looks pretty awesome for a simple maneuver. Since the Blitz Gauge refills if when smashing the floor, you can also refill it by air-dashing into an enemy. This leads to the possibility of a neat little trick that lets you stay forever in the air by consistently air-dashing into the enemy while shooting them down.
For those of you that got a chance to play the demo, Inti Creates says that the demo was actually the easiest difficulty of the several modes they’ve prepared for the full release.
They also mention that Copen and Gunvolt have completely different playstyles, but those of you who played the previous game might find it easier to go as Copen in Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. Finally, the move you see at the 11:00 mark was a little spoiler, but they said that it was in the demo, so they figured that it wasn’t that bad to show.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 will release in Japan on August 25, 2016 for Nintendo 3DS. The game will release in summer 2016 for the West.
