Sakamoto Ryoma is a really cool dude. When he’s not busy hiding in plain sight from his legions of Shinsengumi fans, he’s busy rocking out with the best of them in Bakamatsu Rock, a hilarious PSP rhythm game by Marvelous AQL, which features Ryoma as a rock star.

His charge? To stop the brainwashing of the entire nation of Japan from the Shinsengumi’s Heaven’s Song. With rock.

Additionally, it has been announced that the game will be getting an anime adaptation come July this year.

To celebrate, from March 11th there’ll be a specially available downloadable scenario which has a new solo song (screenshots below) from Hijikata Toshizo and three new skits.

Bakamatsu Rock is out on PSP now. You can check out its rocktastic promotional video here.
