The Japan National Tourism Organization released a new “10 Smart Travel Tips for Japan” booklet in four languages featuring characters from the Keisuke Itagaki manga and anime series Baki. It is now available physically and digitally in English, French, Korean, and Spanish. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]
The “10 Smart Travel Tips for Japan” featuring Baki characters is 14 pages long and essentially offers an array of common sense elements for tourists with art of people from the series engaging with real world surroundings. As an example, Doppo Orochi appears on the first two pages going over hands-free travel via same-day luggage delivery services like Yamato Transport or the lockers at train stations. The section going over IC cards like Pasmo and Suica shows Biscuit Oliva using one to get around. Other topics involve carrying around a bag for trash, identifying taxis, how to handle shrine visits, and guidelines for visiting an onsen.
This happened alongside a major milestone for the Baki series in general. The series just celebrated its 35th anniversary. A character popularity poll ended up being held as a result. A new spin-off anime based on the series Baki Gaiden: Retsu Kaioh wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikko ni Kamawan is in development. TMS Entertainment is behind it again.
