During the February 2023 State of Play, the Baldur's Gate 3 release date came up, a new trailer appeared, and a PS5 version was confirmed.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date Set, Headed to PS5

At The Game Awards 2022, Larian Studios revealed the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date window. Now, we know exactly when in August 2023 it will appear. It will come at the very end of the month on August 31, 2023. In addition, people will also be able to get Baldur’s Gate 3 on the PS5. Not only that, but the State of Play story trailer offered a first look at J.K. Simmons as General Ketheric Thorm.

First, here’s the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date and story trailer. Simmons’ voice can be heard right away, acting as a narrator.

There’s an additional video to go along with that. After announcing the release date, Larian shared a second video starring Simmons. It shows him in the recording booth, speaking some of his lines for General Thorm. It’s rather brief, though, and doesn’t include any commentary from Simmons about what it was like to play the character.

As a reminder, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the latest installment in the RPG series. The mind flayers placed a illithid tadpole in the player’s avatar’s head as part of its attempt to take over the realm. While you manage to escape them, the journey involves finding a way to free yourself from that assault and protect Faerun.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 release date is August 31, 2023, and people will be able to find it on the PS5 and PC.
