Larian Studios revealed that an announcement regarding updates to its early access title, Baldur’s Gate 3, is on the way. The announcement will be live streamed to Twitch, YouTube, and Steam as part of The Panel From Hell 2 event on February 17, 2021 at 10 am PT. It will feature Tieflings, spells, and cows.
The event will be hosted by Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke and Jeremy Crawford, who is the principal rules designer for Dungeons and Dragons at Wizards of the Coast. Crawford is also known for his work on the Player’s Handbook from the Dungeons and Dragons’ fifth edition. Many of the rules in that book were used in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Currently, not much is known about the future of Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of content. We do know that there are plans to offer cross-play multiplayer between the Stadia and PC versions, although that feature isn’t currently active as of patch 3. We also know, thanks to an additional announcement, that the upcoming fourth patch for the game will be, according to the official Twitter account for the game, “chonky” and incompatible with save games from current versions of Baldur’s Gate III. There will, however, be ways for players to continue their current save via a “beta branch,” if players prefer to go that route.
Larian Studios also encourages people to re-stream the panel as it airs, stating that the company wants people to be able to enjoy the stream with their own communities.
Baldur’s Gate III doesn’t have an official release date at the moment but an Early Access version of the game can be purchased for both Stadia and the PC.
