Bandai Namco likes to occasionally pull pranks with their teasers and they got us good with its latest “Summer Horror Project” that looked like a new horror game for smartphones.

After revealing the teaser a couple weeks ago, Bandai Namco’s teaser website has been updated for what ended up being for a two-year anniversary campaign for the smartphone game, Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag.

From now through September 30, 2018 players of the game will take on hordes of zombies as part of the anniversary event. There will be rewards based on the total number of zombies defeated during the campaign.

Kirito’s voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Eugeo’s in Shimazaki Nobunaga were also in on the joke and even starred in a commercial for it:

Here’s a little “making-of” video for the commercial:

Happy second anniversary, punks.

Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag is available on iOS and Android.
