For the second time in 2024, the Final Fantasy XI Return Home to Vana’diel Campaign will give former FFXI players a chance to come back to the MMORPG for free. This time, the promotion will begin on December 20, 2024, and it will end on January 6, 2025. Previously, the event appeared back in August 2024.
As usual, the Return Home to Vana’diel promotion is only for people who haven’t played for a while and meet certain conditions. You need to have a Square Enix Account or a PlayOnline one that already transferred to it. Your service account for the MMORPG needs to be active, even if you aren’t playing. Finally, you need to have the “canceled” status by August 20, 2024. If you played after that and aren’t showing as “canceled” under inactive characters, you can’t take advantage of the offer. Finally, you need to make sure you have the Windows version of the client, which is available on the official site. If you meet all the requirements, you can return to the MMO and play during the 18 day period.
It’s no coincidence that the free Final Fantasy XI Return Home to Vana’diel promotion is coming back now, as it is also when the Starlight Celebration Christmas events are about to kick off in FFXI. That event runs December 16-31, 2024. There is also a New Year’s event running during that time period, as New Year’s Nomad Mog Bonanza 2025 Marble Sales will be going on as the year begins too. There is also a collection of Winter’s Embrace Campaign events running between December 11, 2024 and January 3, 2025, as well as the typical monthly login campaign.
As is customary during these free-play events, there is also a sale running. Starting on December 20, 2024, people can get the FFXI Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition for $9.99, the Seekers of Adoulin expansion for $4.99, or take advantage of the World Transfer Service for only $9. These promotions run even after the free-play event does, as we can take advantage of the discounts until January 14, 2025.
Final Fantasy XI is available for PCs, and the latest Return Home to Vana’diel Campaign runs in FFXI between December 20, 2024 and January 6, 2025.
