Mister Fantastic is a flexible short-range brawler with good survivability, and since he’s newly added you’ll likely be running into him a lot during your matches. So to help you survive the coming legion of elastic lads, here’s a list of some of the best counters to Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals.
General Tips against Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals
As a melee brawler, Mister Fantastic is weak to being kited by slows, stuns or just excessively mobile characters. While he does have a gap-closer with two charges, if he burns two to chase someone that means he won’t have one to escape. Also, be careful not to group up too much as he can drag his regular attacks through foes and his ultimate hits in an AoE as well.
The biggest thing to remember is to not to shoot him while he’s in his Reflexive Rubber form, where he grows looks rectangular and will block all damage before reflecting it in a projectile. He can even block ultimates with this, so try to bait it out early if you can or simply focus on his teammates first. He’s much less dangerous on his own as his personal damage output is quite low for a Duelist character.
Best Characters against Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals
Here are some useful character picks to use as counters against Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals.
- Scarlet Witch – Wanda’s main attack actually deals a portion of max health as damage, making her a great tank-killer. This also works well against Mister Fantastic since it will count the shields he is repeatedly granting to himself and allies. She also has a useful escape against him, although since he’ll hear your ultimate coming he will probably be able to block it with Reflexive Rubber.
- Star Lord – While Mister Fantastic has the option to jump on ranged enemies, Star Lord’s pistols only do better when close up and if things really get hairy he can just scoot out of there fairly easily. Not a fun match-up for Reed.
- Hulk – Not only does Hulk have mobility to get away with his jumps, but his shield will block or get rid of Mister Fantastic’s grab’s. You can also use your Exile ability to lock him down when he enters his Inflated state to waste his bonus damage, though sadly it doesn’t affect his Rubber form.
- Any Characters with Powerful Stuns – Like with Hulk’s Exile, stuns are good for forcing Mister Fantastic to waste his Inflated form, or if you catch him before he can use Reflexive Rubber you may be able to burst him down before he can activate it.
- Any Characters with High Range and Damage – Since he’s a fairly close range brawler, Mister Fantastic is vulnerable to coordinated fire from ranged foes like Punisher, Hawkeye, or even Black Widow. Even if you just force him to pop Reflexive Rubber that’s still pressure you’re applying, just make sure not to shoot him while it’s active.
