What are the best flying mounts in Palworld?

Flying mounts are first unlocked around level 15 in Palworld, giving you access to travel in the skies. Flight is a big deal, given the vast map of the game. However, like most features, you will not only have to catch the Pal but also craft a saddle so you can actually ride it.

Ranking which Pal is the absolute best is impossible, as there is always a bit of subjectivity to it. So, this list will be broken into general categories, so take each Pal placement as a “general” rating and not precise. The list also considers their strengths in combat, other skills, etc.

Nitewing

Nitewing is a decent early-game flying mount in Palworld, as it can be picked up as a level 18 Alpha Boss. While not the fastest mount, it’s definitely quicker than some other early-game Pals due to its giant flapping wings. It’s mostly let down by its mediocre Neutral-type attacks. However, the fact that you can craft its saddle at level 15 makes the Pal pretty noteworthy. You basically can get flight at the beginning of the game, which opens up the map to you substantially.

Elphidran

The adorable blue Dragon Pal is featured on the map at level 30 as an Alpha Boss. Unfortunately, its flying speeds are pretty slow compared to other Pals. If it’s your only option, it’s still a solid flying mount for the early game. It also has a pretty decent set of Dragon attacks and a ranged Fire-type move that will send foes scorching.

Vanwyrm

Vanwyrm is one of the better early-game flying mounts you can get in Palworld because you can craft its saddle starting at level 21. Players also have some options here, as the Pal has a powerful Ice-type Cryst form. Unfortunately, the Vanywrm Cryst Saddle is locked until level 41. Still, this Pal has a good mix of flying speed and combat and is one of your first notable upgrades with flying mounts.

Astegon

The best mid-game flying mount in Palworld is Astegon. While its Flying is mediocre compared to later tiers, it has one of the best combat stats in the game. The only thing holding it back is that you really can’t utilize it until you reach level 40 and above. So, if you don’t mind slower speeds, Astegon packs quite a punch in combat for a flying Pal.

Helzephyr

Helyzephyr is one of the best early-game flying mounts in Palworld as you can unlock its saddle at level 33. The intimidating Dark-type Pal not only looks epic, but it has the stats to back it up! If you manage to catch this Pal, you can expect to have both decent combat and flying stats, making it one of the most solid mounts in the first half of the game.

Quivern

If you are looking for an all-arounder Pal, look no further than Quivern. The adorable Dragon-type not only has solid combat and flying but also has a pretty incredible set of stats. Across the board, Quivern can pretty much do almost every task in your base camp.

Suzaku

Suzaku is one of the best Kindling Pal in Palworld, making it a formidable asset to your base camp. The terrifying flying Pal also has one of the best combat stats in the game, especially if you can get its Water-type form. The only thing holding it back is its Flying, which isn’t as quick as other Pals on this list.

Palworld A Tier Flying Mounts

Beackon

In terms of speed, Beackon is an example of an “A-tier” flying mount in Palworld. You will immediately notice the difference in travel time, especially when compared to slower Pals such as Elphidran. It’s even quicker than Helzephyr! The only thing letting this Pal down is its lack of strength in combat. Something to consider, though, is that it has one of the best Electric-generation stats in the game for your Power Generator. So it’s also really good to have in your base camp.

Ragnahawk

Ragnahawk is one the first flying mounts in Palworld with a wow factor. The fiery bird not only has devastatingly powerful combat stats, but it’s also incredibly fast! Since it has a +3 Kindling ability to make Ingots in seconds, you will want this Pal to power your Furnace in Palworld. I honestly think Ragnahawk could be S-tier for some players, given its speed, combat prowess, and kindling generation for camp.

Shadowbeak

Although Shadowbeak isn’t the quickest mount in this category, it has the strongest combat stat in this tier. And I don’t just mean as a flying mount; it has one of the best combat rankings in the entire game! So if you are looking for a strong flying mount that can do massive damage in combat, Shadowbeak is the right Pal for you, especially if you are in the mid-game sections of the map.

Palworld S Tier Flying Mounts

Faleris

Faleris is the first flying mount in Palworld that really blows all the other Pals out of the water in terms of flight speed. Above all else, what makes an “S Tier” flying Pal is how quickly it can transport you across the map. The only drawback to Faleris is its combat abilities, and even then, it’s still one of the strongest fighters in the game and outranks every other Pal on this list so far.

Frostallion

Frostallion is the second-best flying mount in Palworld. If we were ranking Pals purely based on combat alone, then it would actually be number one. But as I mentioned earlier, speed is what really matters on this list. Still, I don’t blame anyone for ranking Frostallion at number one. After all, being able to dish out devastating damage is a major bonus, especially when you can attack at the speed of sound.

Jetragon

It should come as no surprise that the best flying mount in Palworld is a Legendary Pal. But yeah, Jetragon is, in my opinion, the best flying mount currently in Palworld. For starters, its speed is ridiculous, which makes sense since it’s basically a dragon strapped with jet engines on its wings. This thing can zip around the map quickly and is just as fast in combat. Jetragon is the goal all players should work towards when it comes to flight in the game.

Palworld is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
