The Misfit of Demon King Academy

This isn’t Isekai in the traditional sense, but the main character, Anos Voldigoad, awakens in this world in a new body after dying many decades prior. Anos is literally the demon king incarnate, so he is pretty much one of the most powerful main characters in anime history.

This is basically a power fantasy as he continuously wipes out foes with a single glance or swing of his hand. So, although it’s not a traditional Isekai, I think any list of overpowered main characters should absolutely include Anos Voldigoad.

Overlord Ainz Ooal Gown

Overlord

Ainz Ooal Gown was the in-game name for the leader of a guild in this MMORPG. But when the servers shut down, he found himself stuck in the game forever. Since he is already ranked as one of the strongest players in the MMO, he automatically has the advantage over everyone he comes across. Plus, it helps his guild is made up of equally overpowered and interesting companions.

The Eminence in Shadow

The main character of this series, Cid, awakens in a fantasy world where he fights against an evil cult as the man Shadow. Shadow has immense power and a solid group of companions. He only gains further strength and abilities as the series goes on, making him one of the more notable main characters.

Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation Rudy

Mushoku Tensei (Jobless Reincarnation)

The goofy series Mushoku Tensei follows Rudy, who grows up as a baby in a fantasy realm after dying in the real world. He immediately has access to all of his knowledge from his past life. As such, he uses that to know immense magic from an early age. Through the help of others, he learns countless magic spells and becomes the target of many people.

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious

Seiya is a fascinating and powerful main character. Unlike some of the others on this list, his caution (as the name implies) triumphs over everything else. A goddess summons him to a fantasy world to defeat the evil demon lord.

His power is more than enough to defeat the demon lord, but he doesn’t let his strength be his downfall. If fans of powerful MCs want something with an intelligent protagonist who is careful, this is the one to watch.
