Best New Shojo Manga Volumes to Read in 2026

There are so many amazing shojo series out there, including ones that go beyond what you traditionally expect from a series in terms of romantic relationships and tone. Many amazing ones got started in 2025 and are just beginning in 2026. To help get a better idea of some of the potential reading material out there, here are a few I’d suggest checking out. While most of them are relatively new and started either in 2025 or 2026, there are some older ones I’m including due to upcoming or current anime adaptations.

Traditional Types of New Shojo Manga

  • The 31st Consort: Perhaps one of the most traditional, new manga I’m suggesting, this shojo series follows a young noblewoman named Felia. Because of the nature of her station and area of the kingdom, she’s quite down to earth and a normal girl. When King Macron is called upon to bring in 31 consorts and pick one to become his bride and queen, she’s made the 31st one. However, her personality makes her first in everyone’s hearts. Three volumes are available via Yen Press
  • Assassin & Cinderella: This is one of the more mature series out there, and it has a Spy x Family sort of premise. Neneko is a spy who is assigned to get close to and romance an assassin named Omi. Except the two end up actually falling for each other.Square Enix is behind this one, and two volumes are immediately available.
  • Even a Replica Can Fall in Love: Do you need to cry? This shojo manga is for you! The lead character is a replica of a girl named Sunao Aikawa. Sunao can summon her up when needed to do things for her. However, instead of just being a carbon copy, this individual is her own person, and the series deals with her contemplating her own existence and relationships, while also dealing with Sunao’s own issues. The first volume is available via Yen Press.
  • The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All: If you’re into yuri, the relationship and evolving romance between Aya and Mitsuki is a joy to read. Mitsuki and Aya “meet” when Aya visits the record store where Mitsuki works, mistakes her for a guy, and develops a crush on her. However, Mitsuki is well aware of who Aya is, as that’s her classmate. Dealing with the case of mistaken identity and getting close after that is satisfying to see. The first three volumes are available via Yen Press.
  • I’m no Angel: While many of my suggestions are already out, I’m no Angel is an upcoming series. Remember Ai Yazawa of Nana and Paradise Kiss fame? This is one of her earliest works, and Viz Media picked it up. It follows Midori, who gets a chance to go to school and be on the student council alongside her crush, Akira. The first volume will be out in English on June 2, 2026.
  • Tamon’s B-Side: While Viz Media’s already released quite a few volumes of this shojo series already, I figured it couldn’t hurt to remind folks about the manga with the anime currently streaming. It follows a young woman who adores an idol group, particularly one member, and ends up being his housekeeper and true self. As she roots him on, a bond forms between the two. 10 volumes are already available in English, with Viz handling it.

More Unusual Types of Shojo and Shojo-adjancent Manga

  • Bride of the Death God: While the star of this series can really feel like the shinigami who is trying to save Aibi, a girl afflicted by an odd condition that causes flowers to sprout from her body, supernatural beings to chase her, and her to gain unusual powers, there are enough shojo-style moments to make it appealing to those who love the genre. It’s all about finding out what’s happening to Aibi, then ensuring her and Shii-kun the death god perhaps get a chance to be happy. The first two volumes of the manga are available now via Yen Press.
  • Love Bullet: This is a yuri series that’s occasionally action-packed, when it comes to the cupids clashing, but also has its more romantic moments. After Koharu’s untimely death, she gets a chance to spend time as a matchmaking angel to earn a second chance at life again. So each adventure involves seeing a new potential couple and romance. Volume 1 is out now via Yen Press.
  • Magical Girl Dandelion: This is another series that’s definitely shojo, but again pushes the envelope about what to expect from the characters and adventure. Tanpopo is a magical girl, and her friend Shade is a fiend. So two “born” enemies are closer to each other than anyone else, and the series explores that relationship. Volume 1 will be out on March 3, 2026, with Viz Media handling it.
