Blizzard Celebrates Overwatch’s One-Year Anniversary With A Seasonal Event, Free Weekend, And More

Since its release nearly one year ago, Blizzard’s first-person shooter, Overwatch, has garnered a huge and dedicated following. With its one-year anniversary nearly upon us, Blizzard has announced that they have prepared a handful of special events to celebrate the occasion.

 

First off, an “Overwatch Anniversary” event will begin on May 23rd and will last until June 12th. As per usual, this event is expected to bring a variety of new emotes, skins, sprays, and more to the game. Additionally, Blizzard is beginning another free weekend to the game to celebrate its anniversary. The free weekend will run on all platforms for the game from May 26th until May 29th, and any progress made during the free trial period will carry over should players decide to purchase the full game.

 

Blizzard also announced Overwatch’s Game of the Year Edition for all platforms. The special edition will come with a bunch of extra goodies. Here’s a full list of what’s included in the Game of the Year Edition:

 

  • 10 Loot Boxes with random items such as credits, skins, emotes, poses voice lines, sprays and highlight intros.
  • Mercy’s wings for Diablo 3 players
  • Tracer for Heroes of the Storm
  • Hero Skins: Vintage skins for Blackwatch Reyes, Strike-Commander Morrison, Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Phara, and Slipstream Tracer.
  • StarCraft 2 in-game Portraits of Bastion, Tracer, Pharah, Reaper, Soldier: 76, and Winston.
  • Overwatch-themed Hearthstone Card Back
  • Baby Winston pet to use in World of Warcraft
  • Overwatch-themed card back for Hearthstone
