It seems like Diablo III cross-play could be a potential feature for Activision Blizzard’s action-RPG. Business Insider reported that a Blizzard Entertainment representative confirmed it could be a possibility during a Diablo III: Eternal Collection gameplay demo.
When asked about Diablo III cross-play and whether multiple platforms could eventually play together, a possibly positive response was issued. The Blizzard Entertainment representative said, “It’s a question of when, not if.”
As a reminder, Minecraft already allows people on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC to play together. A Rocket League cross-play update is coming that will add RocketID to the game. Fortnite also supports cross-play.
In other Diablo news, a number of items labeled Diablo Reign of Terror items have appeared in the Blizzard Gear Store as part of the BlizzCon 2018 lineup. This includes a $14 poster and $25 men’s and women’s shirts.
Update: Blizzard has sent out an official statement, with the representative saying, “While we love the idea of bringing our players together across platforms, we do not have any plans to implement cross-platform gameplay for Diablo at this time.”
Diablo III: Eternal Collection will come to the Nintendo Switch on November 2, 2018. Diablo III is immediately available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
