The game/anime/manga has yet to debut in North America, but during the first day of International Licensing Show Viz Media announced Bandai America has been granted the license to make toys based off of the anime.
“Bandai America will bring its extensive design and manufacturing resources to bear to develop an exciting and must-have line of toys and products to support BLUE DRAGON,” states Shodo Omatsu, President & COO, Bandai America Incorporated. “This property extends the most exciting attributes of video gaming and anime and represents a wide range of possibilities for the development of products designed for fans of all ages. We look forward to working with VIZ Media to make BLUE DRAGON a success.”
Bandai already released a series of gashapon figures in Japan, but if they are making a “line of toys” Bandai probably has more than a few tiny figures planned. This also puts Microsoft, Viz and Bandai in the same court; they are all banking on the success of Mistwalker’s first property. What if…. nah I won’t say it.
