Capcom announced that they’re entering into a cross-licensing agreement with Bandai Namco, related to online matching in properties such as the Street Fighter series.

According to the company’s press release, the agreement is to improve the user experience while speeding up the production of titles and reducing development costs for both Capcom and Bandai Namco.

Furthermore, with the cross-license for online matching, Capcom’s goal is to effectively utilize the patents they’ve been granted in game series such as Street Fighter in order to deliver more exciting content.

Using the agreement as a starting point, Capcom will continue exploring cross-licensing opportunities in order to safeguard its patents while improving the user experience, and also to contribute to a healthier game industry.
