While Evo 2020 isn’t happening this year the top Street Fighter V players will still get to compete in the Capcom Pro Tour Online 2020 starting June 6, 2020. Capcom shared a notice of scheduling and format changes for the event due to COVID-19.
In light of the various travel restrictions and worldwide social distancing guidelines, Capcom decided to cancel the remaining events for the 2020 season. This includes all premiers, rankings events, and World Warrior events for the 2020 season.
As we’ve seen with Evo’s move to Evo Online this year, Capcom will follow with 18 online regional tournaments. It will start with a tournament in the NA East region on June 6, 2020. Winners of each of the 18 online tournaments will automatically qualify for Capcom Cup 2020. In addition to the 18 winners, the Capcom Cup 2019 champion, iDom, will be offered a slot at the Capcom Cup 2020. Now that leaves one more slot, and it will go out o one of the 31 finalists from Capcom Cup 2019 through a community vote.
Capcom Cup 2020 will feature a total of 20 players. Moreover, the event will move from Paris, France, to the United States to help accommodate the new schedule. It will take place sometime in the first quarter of 2021. More information on Capcom Cup 2020 will be shared at a later date.
Street Fighter V is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
